Importance of Hydration and Bodywork

Hydration is always a concern thru out the year especially in the summer.  A great rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in ounces.  So if you weighed 160 lbs. then you should drink at least 80 ounces of water a day.  Yes it sounds like a lot.

Water serves a number of essential functions to keep us all going:

A vital nutrient to the life of every cell, acts first as a building material.

It regulates our internal body temperature by sweating and respiration

The carbohydrates and proteins that our bodies use as food are metabolized and transported by water in the bloodstream

It assists in flushing waste mainly through urination

Acts as a shock absorber for brain and spinal cord

Lubricates your joints

If you’re not hydrated properly, your body can’t perform at its highest level. You may feel tired; get headaches, experience muscle cramps, dizziness, digestive issues or other serious symptoms.

The body is a highly complex piece of machinery.    So if a restriction in joints or soft tissue exits fluid exchange is compromised.   Receiving bodywork improves fluid exchange which helps us feel better and improves our immune system to keep us healthy.
